FROM THE GOVERNOR
As the newly volunteer/appointed governor of your Moose Lodge I want to first thank my fellow officers for stepping forward to serve in this rather critical circumstance. Our lodge has been lacking a full slate of officers for some time, a situation that caught the attention of the eastern Iowa governing body. The result was the May 15, 2010 meeting where we faced potential closure unless a full board was formed immediately. We, the volunteer officers are committed to serve through May 2011 when hopefully a meaningful election will provide stability to the lodge operation.
I explain this because the members must be aware that a Moose Lodge cannot function without member participation, volunteers and a board of officers. This lodge has its 100th anniversary celebration this year culminating November 2010. One hundred years of success didn’t come about by accident. There have been many Moose family events over the last century including dances, special occasion dinners and parties, raffles and fund raisers to mention a few. We hope the next six months bring about a renewed membership commitment to make our second century as successful as the first has been. There will be various upcoming events this year which hopefully will be well attended.
We need to emphasize new member recruitment, but also existing member participation is critical. Our financial status is far less than desirable, a situation that must be corrected soon. Committee chairs will be needed to bring enthusiasm and leadership skills for planning these special anniversary events. We, the officers and administrator, need your help, your ideas and especially your support.
Fraternally Yours,
Denny Schroeder
Senior Regent

Greeting from the WOTM
We are flying through the year very quickly; it is hard to believe that we are moving into July already.
A big thanks to my committee chairman’s we are having a strong year with some new ideas to help make the chapter meetings more interesting. Also the membership is growing as we have added 5 new members since the beginning of the 2010/2011 year Welcome goes to the following new members: Ann Armstrong, sponsor Tami Stagg—
Mary Kisner, sponsor, Tami Stagg ---Marie Press, sponsor Vicki Quinlin---Laura Ribbink, sponsor Gladys Reif---Lisa Brannen, sponsor Gladys Reif.
Again I want to remind all of you that the WOTM serve a wonderful luncheon at the Lodge each Thursday from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Please come and support the club.
Our chapter meetings are held the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of each month at 7p.m. The first meeting of each month we plan a program to encourage interest and enthusiasm for our members. The attendance at the meetings has been rather slight. Please come and join us, we are actually having some fun.
We mailed out bake-less-bake sale letters to all active members on June 1st and are hoping for tons of response. If you haven’t mailed in your donation please do so soon. This is the first fundraiser of many that we will have during the year to support our Chapter and Mooseheart/Moosehaven. Other fundraisers and recognitions are in the planning stages and we need help, if anyone has the time and wants to assist in the planning you are surely welcome, call me 563-263-5570.
Fraternally Yours,
Gladys Reif
